IMSA 2022: 6 Hours of The Glen - Practice 1

The Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen serves as the seventh event of the 2022 WeatherTech Championship season and third round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup. It is the first time since the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring in March that all five classes will compete together.

Forty-nine cars are entered for the six-hour race.

The two Acura are dominating the championship so far, with #60 Meyer Shank Racing W/Curb-Agajanian dominating the teams championship as well as Tom Blomqvist and Oliver Jarvis the drivers championship. They are third in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

Renger van der Zande was the second fastest. Together with Sebastien Bourdais, they are 153 points behind the leaders after making a come back in the ranking since their victory in Detroit (the previous round of the Championship).

Albuquerque was the third fastest with the #10 Konica Minolta Acura Arx-05. Together with RIcky Taylor and Will Stevens, they are second in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, 10 points behind the leaders of the championship.

The three drivers were participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans two weeks ago with 3 different teams in LMP2 class.

Will Stevens (not at Tha Glen) together with Roberto Gonzalez and Antonio Felix Da Costa won the class and ended fourth overall.

Mike Conway set the fourth fastest lap during the first session of the weekend. Mike Conway and Olivier Pla will co-drive Derani at The Glen. Conway and Derani are second in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup, equal points with the #10 team. The Whelen Engineering Racing Cadillac DPi #31 is fifth, with Pipo Derani in the 2022 WeatherTech Championship.

Earl Bamber was fifth fastest today. Together with Alex Lynn, they are third in the 2022 WeatherTech Championship, 96 points behind the leaders.

Both Cadillac Racing teams are fourth in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

Richard Westbrook is sixth with JDC Motorsport #5 Cadillac DPi. Together with Tristan Vautier, they are fifth in the 2022 WeatherTech Championship. Both drivers will be co-driven by Loïc Duval with whom they are leading the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

Jimmie Johnson was the only DPi driver behind 5 LMP2 with the Ally Cadillac #48, which will be co-driven by Mike Rockenfeller and Kamui Kobayashi . Both Rockenfeller and Kobayashi are fourth, equal points with the two Cadillac Racing teams in the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.

LMP2

Mikkel Jensen was the fastest in LMP2 with #52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsprts Oreca LMP2 07.

LMP3

George Kurtz was the fastest LMP3 with #54 CORE Autosport Ligier JS P320.

GTD PRO

Ross Gunn set the fastest lap in GTD PRO with #23 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT3.

GTD

Dirk Mueller was the fastest in GTD with Mercedes AMG GT3 #32 from Team Korthoff Motorsports, ahead of all GTD PRO.
